Acho que nesse caso, "since" seria sinônimo de "ago": a period of between eleven and twelve years ago.

Simon, the sentence sounds a bit odd. Is it the full sentence? Something appears to be missing.

To my American ears, the structure sounds odd. The obvious problem is "between eleven and twelve yeares since" what????? "Between eleven and twelve yeares since" a wedding? Since a birth? Since another important date?

Concordo com o Thomas. Acredito que uma maneira adequada de encerrar a sentença seria com "then", "since then"(desde então).

''The letter is addressed by my mother to her second husband, Mr. Fairlie, and the date refers to a period of between eleven and twelve years since then.''

Since then: desde então, desde esta época, desde aquele tempo

Bons estudos!

I arrived here 12 years ago. And in the 12 years since (then), I have always liked it here.

I came here 12 years ago, and at no time since have I regretted the move.
