"To waft" usually means to move, travel, etc. It is not a common word, and it is often associated with smells/aromas. Why would it be used to describe a soccer game?
"MIles wide" means "far from".
"Yarda" is not an English word, to the best of my knowledge. I haven't heard it. I assume it is a typographical error and the correct word is "yard" (jarda). "Yarda" is correct in Spanish, I would expect a team like Barcelona to use "metro" and not "yarda". I mention this because I writer might use a foreign word for flavor.

Yardas é como dita a distância, de passes, dribles, a distância que o jogador correu e quanto a bola percorreu, no futebol (soccer em US). Yardas é somente nesse contexto do futebol mas yards também é usado.
Iniesta chutou de uma distância de 16 yardas do gol e a bola foi a "milhas" para fora.
(16 yardas=14.6 metros)
