You stand in the line just to hit a new low - Tradução em português

Boa noite pessoal,
Na música Bad Day do Daniel Powter eu tive dúvidas em algumas frases:

"You stand in the line just to hit a new low" e
" You're taking one down".

Coloquei a parte inicial da musica abaixo para que vocês tenham o contexto.
Agradeço desde já.
Raquel

Bad Day

Where is the moment we needed the most
You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost
They tell me your blue skies fade to grey
They tell me your passion's gone away
And I don't need no carryin' on

You stand in the line just to hit a new low
You're faking a smile with the coffee to go
You tell me your life's been way off line
You're falling to pieces everytime
And I don't need no carryin' on

Because you had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
The camera don't lie
You're coming back down and you really don't mind
You had a bad day
You had a bad day ...

You stand in the line just to hit a new low
It certainly is in a metaphorical sense, to a certain degree. Meaning that "you expect something and c get it at the end. That things don't get better for you, on the contrary it gets worse and worse. It hits a new low every time you look at the situation.
You're taking one down
Take one down could be that the meaning is of "having a shot", drinking an alcoholic drink, perhaps to forget the bad day, or to endure the hardships of it.

Minhas sugestões:

1) You stand in the line just to hit a new low

Você está na fila para descer ainda mais baixo.

2) Take one down.

Você desceu (ou desce) mais um degrau.

Bye!
