There are a multitude of variables and factors. So, I think no one can give you a definite answer to you.
I had a classmate that was taking English classes togheter with French, and she mixed the grammar rules (as far as I know) don´t know if she had issues with pronounce as well.
If you do have to use French as academical tool, perhaps you need to put your English in back burner for awhile (I mean slow it a bit, not quit studying altogheter). I wouldn´t go into overload.
Anyway, some things have to be dealt in a case by case basis, we can´t advise to take some decisions that are to be taken by the others, it´s their life!
We are available to clear any doubt that comes up about English matters, though. If your feeling is that you can handle all that at once, that´s okay.

No, it won´t get rusty. Not if you come to it in a regular basis, there is, if you don´t altogheter give it up.
From time to time you can be back and review some points, even if they are the basics, because if from the basics that we go higher (by degrees).
By the way, if you read my post it´s a sign that your English is good enough, it won´t hurt much if you to make a pause and pick up where you left some time in the future (I mean, picking speed).
Think about it as if it was an accent, say if you have to live in another region of the country you
Will have adapt to it. You will certainly speak in a certain (new way) and use some other words. Then when you come back, after a stint; you quickly adjust to the accent where you lived before. In between, if you watch some TV of the place you come from, or listen to some radio station from time to time, the better for you.
Similar to the studies of language, and I know that you won´t be away for long long stretches!
