Quando se utiliza up após o verbo?

She was about to relax in the tub when she felt something cold run up the back of her neck.
She pulled up a hand towel...
She rolled it up and placed it across her forehead, closing her eyes.
She picked it up the phone on the floor.
She popped open a beer and began to sip at it up.
