Uso da palavra Over
Ola pessoal, estou com uma dúvida, (meia boba, mas é dúvida). Hoje no meu curso de inglês, ouvi a seguinte frase:
"Mon, There isn't any toilet paper left" (acho que era essa a frase)...
e eu perguntei se poderia usar algo como: "Mon, The toilet paper's over", porém ela também ficou na dúvida, se podia ser usado essa frase ou não. O que vocês acham ?

Renato, realmente quando algo está acabando ou acaba você pode dizer assim:
We´re running out of toilet paper. (Quando está acabando.)
There isn´t any toilet paper left. (Quando já acabou.)
We´re running out of toilet paper. (Quando está acabando.)
There isn´t any toilet paper left. (Quando já acabou.)
Ok, mas ainda continuo com a dúvida se eu poderia usar over no meu exemplo acima. Seria correto eu usar ?

Não Renato, pesquisei e andei falando com uns professores nativos colegas meus e disseram que soaria bem estranho, embora gramaticalmente esteja correto.
Abraço,

If you add the prefix over to a verb, you intensify the verb.
Overwork means to work too much.
I feel overworked means I feel exhausted.
Overdo means to do too much of something.
I overdid it when I was working out. Now my muscles are sore. That means that I exercised too much or too strenuously.
I overslept means I slept too long.
When you oversleep you may be late for work
Anyway!
Over intensifica o sentido do verbo.
É mais ou menos quando a gente fala assim, Estou super cansada! Acredito que deve ser...I'm overtired

Also, you can say the show is over, meaning the show is finished, the show has ended.
A sale can be over, a tv or radio show (as fgsacco mentioned earlier...Thank you, Fabio!) or a play, a movie, a lecture, a class or other live performance.
However, you cannot say a book is over when you finish reading it, although you can say the reading activity is over. Nor can you say the toilet paper is over, as has already been discussed.
BTW (By the way, além disso, a propósito)
THERE ARE OTHER USES, TOO
1. I`m so over him = I have moved on and am not in love with him anymore.
2. I read the whole contract over = I purused (read) all of the contract.
3. come on over = feel free to visit me.
4. I`m overwhelmed = I have so much work (or emotion) the I am having a very hard time functioning,
. I feel buried by the pressure to preform. Fabio said: "Estou atolado de trabalho" and "an overwhelming victory = Uma vitória arrasadora." Thanks again, Fabio!
5. Ï am underwhelmed" is ironic and kind of funny in tone for "I am not impressed."

Hi people !
Many people can confusing Over and On
Over, most of times, you use when you cannot touch, like :
The airplane overflies over me. // O avião sobrevoa sobre mim.
Now, i keep in touch with my family over the internet. // Agora, eu mantenho contaco com minha familia pela internet.
On, is more common when you CAN touch, like :
The book is on the table (you can touch the table) // O livvro esta sobre a mesa (você pode tocar a mesa.)
I hope to help you.
Bye !

Olá Renato,
If something is left, it remains after everything else has gone, been taken away, como o toilet paper no seu exemplo Renato
"over" nao pode ser usado no seu exemplo por isso:
if an event or period of time is over, it has finished:
The show is over (finished), meaning it ended.
I hope it helps.

Você pode, contudo, dizer que "something is left over", ou perguntar se "is there something left over", no sentido de restar ou haver após um certo período de consumo.
Is there any food left over? -> Sobrou alguma comida?
I went over and greeted the newcomers - Eu fui até lá e cumprimentei os recém-chegados.
Fold over the sheet -> Dobre a folha pela metade.
Turn it over - Vire-o, de modo que a parte de cima passa a encostar a superfície (vi isso no visor do meu micro-ondas, solicitando que a pessoa virasse o que havia dentro ao contrário)
Best wishes

There is no place I want to go = There is not (isn't) any place I want to go.

OLá queridos amigos,
Essa dúvida extende-se a mim também. Eu vejo muito isso. "is it over?" "over there!" it's over over again" "has over"
veja essa frase:
"Who else came here to check if this video has over 31,474,124 views"

Also:
Oh no! There is no toilet paper!
We are running out of toilet paper here!
=================
In overwork you modify a verb, whereas in overworked you have a compounded word with "-worked" not being a verb, but closer to an adjective and the "over" meaning "too much/in excess/overly". Indeed, the entire word (overworked) all the word is a adjective meaning "having to work too much" or in other case "something used to much" [an expression, a word, a cliché etc].
===============
And, no!
"toilet paper" is not used in that way, with "over". It´s not a natural way to talk in English.

Olá pessoal,
Poderiam por favor me ajudar com uma frase envolvendo a palavra over?
A frase que vi era: This man over millions of subzeros players out there, is the two hundredth, he deserves some respect.
PS: a subzero player é uma pessoa que joga somente com o subzero, um lutador de Mortal Kombat.
Então, poderiam de dizer se a frase é correta e também se poderiamos usar ''among'' no lugar de ''over'' ?
Valeus
