Usos de "If I could just do a small coffee"

Swarmfire 2 19
If I could just do a small coffee, If I could just do that black would be great"

I would like to have ..."?
  • Para eu especificar como desejo meu café posso utilizar da estrutura "If that were black would be great"?

It's very common, and I think it's used everywhere in the US.

There is a good discussion here: https://notoneoffbritishisms.com/2019/0 ... menu-item/

Not my territory!
I would like to have ..."?
"Do" sounds less formal to me.
Para eu especificar como desejo meu café posso utilizar da estrutura "If that were black would be great"?
He only repeats the "If I could just do that black, that'd be great" by way of hesitation; this isn't a normal way to specify that you'd like your coffee black.

If you did say something like that, you would say: "If that were black, that'd be great."

Você quer dizer que "If I could just DO ..." é menos formal que "I would like to have ..." por conta do uso do "do"?

No, I mean to say that the entire phrasing sounds less formal, it's not just the "do".

It's just a situational thing - "I'll do the salad" or "I'll do mine rare" (referring to steak - rare = malpassado), or things like that, are all things I'd say in more casual restaurants, not in super fancy/expensive places.

Perfeito, realmente peguei a ideia agora.

Existe um termo, um "whiter" ou devo dizer literalmente "If that had more milk than usual - não sei se tal frase é correta - would be great"?

I always have mine black, so that's a rare situation for me, and I'm no expert on coffee orders!

But if I wanted more milk, I would say something like "I would like a coffee with milk, with an extra splash of milk, please.", or if you already received it and want a little more milk to be added, "Could I please get an extra splash of milk?", or if you wanted to be real specific, "I'd like coffee with milk, but please make it more milk than coffee, about 60-40."

The "that would be great" thing in this situation is really more of a hesitational addition, brought about by trying to be obsequiously humble or just lacking conviction; you don't need to say it to be polite.
