Vitor, WAS e WERE são as formas do passado do verbo TO BE.

I / he / she / it --> WAS
you / we / they --> WERE
No caso então ''I'' seria usado om ''was''... E por exemplo, a música "If I were a boy''? Fiquei em dúVida.

Vini,

Trata-se de uma expressão do condicional "If I were" - está é a forma, gramaticalmente falando, mais empregada.

Bons estudos!
Olá pessoal,

Aproveitando o tópico sobre o "was" eu queria saber.. Em substantivos eu uso o was ou were?

Ex: John was here yesterday / John were here yesterday.
The city was in chaos / The city were in chaos
Lucy was in park sooner / Lucy were in park sooner
Julio was sad, because she was angry with him / Julio were sad, because she was angry with him.

Enfim.. Para substantivos concretos eu uso qual? Were ou was? E para os abstratos?

Ex: the love was coming at the end / the love were coming at the end.

Em ambos substantivos o "was" me soa melhor.. Mas tenho essa dúvida cruel.

Thanks !

Celso

John was here yesterday = He was here yesterday

The city was in chaos = It was in chaos

Lucy was in park sooner = She was in park sooner.

Julio was sad, because she was angry with him = He was sad, because she was angry with him.

Só complementando o que Donay disse

Was: Singular
Were: Plural (só que nesse caso tem uma excessão para o pronome "YOU")

No caso "YOU WERE" pode ser usado tanto no singular quanto no plural.
Você usa "was" somente para I, He, She e IT; nas demais você usa "were"
I Was
You Were
He/She/It Was
You Were
We Were
They Were
