Question: What is the best book you've ever read?

Answers:

- I probably might have read better books, but the first that comes to my mind now is "The Book Thief". The history happens in Germany during World War II. The narrator is the Death , and it tells the history of a ten-year-old girl whose family is hiding a jewish in the basement of their house. This girl steals some books and they have a special meaning in the unfolding of the story.

- I loved to read Harry Potter series / Lord of the Rings / Narnia series / Twilight series / Gone with the Wind / The Da Vinci Code / Robinson Crusoe / Pride and Prejudice / Moby-Dick / The Little Prince, etc

Hi Everybody!
First of all, I need to say that I LOVE reading. I really believe there is not "a best book", however there is "THAT book on THAT moment" and, all those books and reading make me complete! Don`t you agree?
Nice talk to you.
Sami

I must agree that books are like music. There's a special moment in our lives that just make them move us.
There're always the superbs.
I've read "The Four Loves" by C.S.Lewis (the author of Narnia) and this makes me wonder how to say
"livro de cabeceira" in English.
And "Capitu" by Machado de Assis. It is intense and I found it highly recommended.

God's Advocate. This book tell the story about a young lawyer that believe in his dreams and He doesn't desist of his ideal. His family is rich, but He prefer to be poor, but to live in peace. When nobody believe in him, He believe in himself and in God.

The best book I read, I think was The Shack, it's beautiful and touching, and I learnt a lot reading this book, after reading it, I started to have more faith and belief in God! So, it changed a little bit the essence of my being...

'The Shack' by William P. Young.
Oh Gosh, the best book ever. I do agree that a book is good in a certain time of our lives but this book makes me speechless. It talks about God. But the author's way of writing is totally out of the box. No matter the religion you belong to, you must read this book. It's the best ever. From all books I've ever read, this is the one that I could not have gone through life without reading.
Read the comments about it on orkut communities. It's worth it.

Had many books I read that I really enjoyed it. But ... to name a few, I liked the book "O último judeu" by Noah Gordon. I also enjoyed the books of Luiz Fernando Verissimo, Machado de Assis, among others. Like a lot of chronic, especially Fernando Sabino.

the beginning of your sentence has the meaning of "Existem/Há" and you should translate it as "There are"

There are books I read...

I like reading a lot, though I don't do it very often cause I don't buy books... But When I do... I read "Helena de troia" in just one week and it has more than 800 pages! Another good book is "The golden Compass", it's amazing but Ive never read any other book of the serie.

I read that too, but in English. If you liked this one, you should read The Pelican Brief.

"it keeps you reading it till the last page" = the book is a page turner. ;)

Actually, I should read more books. I can't say it was the best book I've ever read, but I remember that "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho was quite remarkable when I read it.
