Hello,

To be honest, getting the rithym is the hardest of English to me. Surely it is crystal clear for anyone that using propositions is difficult, such as learning phrasal verbs, idioms, slangs and so futher. But, I think it is difficult to become familiar with English in order to be natural in speechs, readings, writtings and listenings, and it takes us a long time, perhaps our entire life.

Well, that is what I think and I am looking towards to opinions from my friends on the forum.

Speaking or writing complex or compound sentences. I have lived with the fear of writing away at subjects of which I have little or no practical knowledge.
Hi there!

I've been learning English for two years and the hardest aspect to me is speaking English, because I don't have practiced such skill.

This year my plan is get this skill improved to such dreamed fluency.

Hugs,
Eduardo
Listening. If you understand what other people are saying, you're able to communicate with them. If not, no way!

Claiene and all members,

One of my upcoming "columns" to be published in the blog section on the home page of English Experts will be on this very subject. I hope that all of you read it and then possibly become less insecure about speaking English.

While I am here I would like to rewrite your post to point out a few errors, please let me know if you understand the changes and if you have any questions. By the way any member of "EE" is welcome to ask questions about any of my posts.

"I feel insecure when I have to say something in English, because I am afraid of making mistakes. So for me the hardest aspect of English is speaking."
I am also afraid of speaking in English, due to that for the last two months I have practiced that language with a friend of mine, we both need to develop our communication and self-confidence when speaking in English, so not better than improve these qualities with whom we are not so afraid of making mistakes. I have noticed some very impressive improvement since we started practing it, so I promissed to myself that I will do that kind of thing while it be possible.

As I am a college student and there are plenty of people around me who need to practice conversation, I intend to invite more friends to my conversational meetings in order to help not only myself, but anyone who wants to learn English. For sure there is not too much time avaliable for college students, but I think one hour and a half a week is enough for my purposes.
I think speaking and writing is definitely the hardest aspect for intermediate like me, because you have to had a good vocabulary, well as well leave your shyness by side and you must to think in english to write and speak. But I think we need to pratice more and more, sometime we'll write or speak wrong, but is the only way to learn.

I'm having some trouble to improve my vocabulary.... Recently I started to read books in english (started with "a song of Ice and fire book 3" cause we don't have it available in portuguese yet) and I notice that there are a lot of word that I don't know, that I've never seen... (describing places, cloths, people...). It seems I can't learn more words! :(
It's so difficult to me speaking or writing complex or compound sentences. As I can't practice my spoke every day, my pronunciation is not so good. And when I have to write, I make many mistakes in how spell some words. Because of this, I always have to look at a dictionary or a translator for write correctly.
But I know that for I write and speak correctly, I have to practice a lot. So, when I'm working, I used to read many texts in english and look at a EE site. :D
Just this simple task of writing a tiny text it's hard for me. I understand that only by practicing I'll enhance this ability. So I'm making of this answer my very first daily homework.

The hardest aspect for me is to think the way a native would think and not the way we form sentences in portuguese.
Pronunciation, especially the vowels: pan/pen, leave/live, etc. Surprinsingly, I didn't have much ploblem with the consonants, not even with the infamous TH.
Hi there!
Due to the fact that I never had any formal lesson in english, I've been had hard times with almost all aspects of the language.
I've been trying to study by myself since I was a teenager and, nowadays, I'm using Ronald Murphy books to cover some gaps in my knowledge.
I can read almost everything (since the begin of year I read five books in english) and, in the past year, I travelled to EUA to improve my listening. This really worked in a lot of aspects, I can understand almost everything in regular TV shows, documentaries and such things, but I don't feel confortable in a lot of situations.
I hope that, with all my efforts, in a near future do a test, like CAE or Toeffel, to certify my English.

Hugs

Hi guys!
To me the most difficult thing is the vocabulary to write good texts. My listening is acceptable and my speak is nice. But my texts isn't good. I need to know how to write formal texts, because I write a lot of documents (I study Administration/Business) so the correct write is very necessary.
This exercise in Fórum to answer the questions is helping me so much. I hope that in few months I can write better than now. ;)
Hi, I have been reading the posts of many students, so I have observed that they commit mistakes because they are talking and writing as they talk and write in their native language (Brazilian Portuguese); in English the words has another order on sentence, so they commit the mistakes. If they had this aspect of the English language on their minds, they would committed fewer mistakes.
Thanks! :)
To develop writing and talking skills is the most difficult to me.
I think my listenning is intermediate, so is my reading.

But when it comes to talk and/or write, I usually make mistakes.
Hey guys!
No doubt about it, the hardest thing about English for me is speaking. When I start a conversation, it seems that the words simply disappear from my mind, I guess it is because of the insecurity. Writing for me is a little bit easier, cause it doesn't involve the timidity.
Anyway, hope this forum helps me improve my english.
Nice "meeting" you all!
:)

See ya!

The most difficult field of english language, as any other language, to me, is definatelly vocabulary. Many times that I try to write about something or speak about something, there's allways some word that I can't remember or I don't have any idea of what it suppose to be called! I know that even native speakers might have this obstacle when speaking or writing too, so vocabulary, in my opinion, no matter how hard you study, you'll allways have problems with it!!

tell me if you disagree, cheers!

Hi there,

To be honest, I have thought about it for the last days and my opinion was changed. In the past, I guessed the hardest aspect was something related to grammar or informal rules. Now, unless for me, it's the ability to hear and comprehend what we listen without getting tired of paying attention to. I guess there's not some point that is the hardest aspect throughout our learning, it appear difficults that make English hard depending on the stage we are. That's what I think for now on.

Bye folks!
The hardest aspect for me is the use of the correct grammar in sentences.
The hardest aspect for me is the listen, the writing and some parts of the grammar, the easiest is speaking.
the hardest aspect of english for me is speak, i've never had to speak english in my life because i dont needed, nowadays i'm working in a company that gives better oportunities to professionals that speak english, so i started to study.

Well, In my opinion the hardest aspect to learn in English as second language is certainly the pronnunciation, because in English there are sounds that don't exist in Portuguese and that it's very different of portuguese sounds like the word "three"( by the way, I think one of the hardest sounds to learn, so far). Therefore, the strangers have to strive too much till sink in, learn and pronnounce correctly some english sounds.
