Question: What tech gadget would you like to have?

I took the liberty of copying this question from Curso de Inglês para Tímidos – Lição 22.

Some examples of answers also taken from there:

- "I’d like to have an IPad, a notebook, a flat screen tv and a profissional photo camera"

- "I’m Macmaniac…..I have an ipod …..but I would like to have an Ipad, an iMac pc and a MacBook Air."

- "I’d like to have a Smartphone, with IPhone 3G functionalities, that could run Playstation portable games, and play the games in German or English. But Sony hasn’t invented that yet."

- "the best MacBook Pro, an iPad, an Iphone, a PS3, a TV LED 42″ and a great home theater, all of this inside of a room acoustically isolated, with a comfortable couch and a minibar (just it xD)."

P.s.: I had to copy the examples because I've never dreamed of having any ultra-modern gadget. My poor Nokia cell phone is more than enough for me.

Now it’s your turn!

Hi there,

I would like to have a PS3. That one is missing! I hope that one day it will be cheaper! Using a PS1 and PS2 I've learnt a lot of English playing some games like Metal Gear that you can play using subtitles or playing a good football(soccer) game listening the narrator speaking English. It also helps to improve the learning of the English Language!

Best Regards!!

Felipe,

May I suggest the following rewrite for the above post, as being closer to what an American might say or write.

While I have a PS1 and PS2, I would like to have a PS3, however they are too expensive at the present time, but hopefully their price will come down soon. By using my PS1 and PS2 I have learned a lot of English by playing games like Metal Gear and soccer using subtitles or listining to the narrator speaking English. I think that the PS series of electronic games helps students learn English.

Note:

In British or the Queens English learnt is a word and is the past tense of learn.
In American English learnt is not a word and the past tense of learn is learned.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for that suggestion. It's ok to receive it, because it helps to improve.

Best Regards!!

A cell phone with powerful pro digital camera capabilities. If you take candid pictures of some burglar breaking into a home or shoot a car crashing into another car, an airplane about to crash-land, a ship as it sinks as all hands and passengers jump into the water and swim away for life, some imminent event such as a mammoth asteroid entering Earth atmosphere, just to mention a few of the things, then you could make easy money selling the pictures to the local newspaper of your city. Oh, don't bother to wait for oncoming flying saucers. You won't shoot one as these probably never even exist. :|

Marcio,

How about the following for your last sentence?

You won't shoot one as these have probably never existed.

And about the cell phone / camera, keep on dreaming buddy.

And about the flying saucers with little green men, are you really, absolutely, positively sure they are not in Area 51, or have you even been there? :ugeek:  ;)

Bill,

Thank you for correcting my post. Your correction indeed made it better.

And yes, I wouldn't vouch for those attempting to take pictures of or even shoot a flying saucer in location and having the entire film subtitled for the talk of the little green men. This won't work!
I'd like to have an Ipad, it's very beautiful and it has a lot of advantages and functions, including reading books, a great web design, not like other cell phones whose internet is always ugly and useless. But my financial situation doesn't allow me to realize that.

I think that a tablet could be a good tech gift for me. I'd never buy one of this with my own money because they are very expensive and even has less functionalities than a notebook or a ultrabook.
A cloaking device! 8-)
games who really teach english of a directly form
