Como pergunto "whose bikini is this? Or whose bikini are these?" Por ser duas peças, como pergunto?

AFAIK, "Whose bikini is this?"
Bikini is a two-piece swimsuit, so "whose bikinis are these?" would be that you have two sets (or more) of them being of the same person.
The two pieces would be, the bikini top and the bikini bottom, if you want to refer to one of them separately:
When I was younger my friend pulled my bikini top down (at a party) and all the boys ran over to see.
A big wave came along, hit me in the face, and pulled my bikini top down.
My thinking, though.
