Work at x Work for x Work in x work on: Qual a diferença
When do we use:
I work at... ?
I work for... ?
I work in... ?
I have seen all these expressions, but I would like to know when should we use each?
Thanks!

Awesome question, Samoa,
Here are some other distinctions. What's the difference?
"I work at McDonald's."
"I work for McDonald's."
"I work in human resources/sales for McDonald's."
"at" could mean you work at a McDonald's restaurant, maybe as a cashier or burger-flipper.
"for" could mean you work in some capacity for the McDonald's company, maybe as a salesman or attorney at their headquarters.
"in" here could mean in a specific department or area of the company.
A lot will depend on context and "at" and "for" can be used interchangeably without any confusion most of the time.
Donay's got a good explanation for "work on".
Aaargh! Prepositions! Who invented them?!?

Samoa,
Além da explicação no link sugerido pela Flávia, veja um resumo que pode ajudar:
Work at/work in:Trabalhar no, na, em-->I work at/in a bank.(Eu trabalho em um banco.)
Work for:Trabalhar para-->He works for Microsoft.(Ele trabalha para a Microsoft.)
Bons estudos!

Obrigada pelo resumo.
A explicação do link está um pouco confusa.

Dicas:
''Work on'' equivale a "trabalhar em" ou "tentar melhorar". Depende do contexto. Vamos elaborar alguns.
''He works on the Web.''
Ele trabalha na Web. [a Web é o local de trabalho dele.]
''Pages responds so quickly and fluidly that you may forget you're working on the web.'' [apple.com]
''His dancing technique is good, but he needs to work on his fitness.''
"Sua técnica de dança é boa, mas ele precisa tentar melhorar a forma física.''
''Work in/at'': trabalhar em lugares físicos (loja, padaria, etc).
"Work on: trabalhar em um meio online (on the Web, on the internet, etc); tentar melhorar.

Fiquei curioso aqui, Valter. Se você está utilizando Duolingo para aprender inglês, então eu diria "I work with Duolingo."Valter Soares escreveu:EU também já vi escrito, I work "on"

Ou "I'm using Duolingo to learn English."
Alguém que esteja desenvolvendo a plataforma Duolingo diria "I work (am working) on Duolingo. (Efetuando melhorias, por ex)
Não sei se ajudou. Demora um pouco para se acostumar com as preposições em inglês.
Is it wrong to say: "people who works in other professions...". Why?
You can use in to talk about the area, department, segment or industry, NOT a specific profession.
"Those people work in advertising. I think they work at Sterling Cooper." (No segmento de publicidade)
"Those guys dressed in suits work in the entertainment industry. They work at Sony." (na indústria de entretenimento)
"He works in engineering / nursing / medicine/ research / education." NOT "He works in engineer / nurse / doctor / researcher / teacher."
Hope this clarifies!
