Question: Would you like to move to another country? Which one? Why?

Answer: I particularly wouldn't like to live in another place for a long period. But I still hope I’ll get to spend some weeks in US to study English – soon! And maybe some cities in Europe, in the future. I have a friend from Montpellier – south of France, and it seems to be a very nice place.

Now it’s your turn!

During my career in the U.S. Army I have been to many countries (over 30) some for a few hours and some for a year or more. During these visits have come to realize that most people of the world will return to a foreigner the same as the foreigner gives to them. In other words "reap as ye shall sow". As a young boy my father also a soldier, was stationed in Japan for six years and I learned a lot about Japan, including how to speak Japanese, we also lived in Germany for one year, and visited many countries in Europe. Based on the above and my study of current events there are only two countries that I would like to live in.

The first is the United States of America, but the readers of this posting should have deduced that.

The second is the Federal Republic of Brazil, again those who have read my other posts should have presumed this choice. The reasons I would like to live in Brasil are many and include: The Climate in the South East; Geographical Location in relation to some of the most Amazing Natural Wonders of the world; seeing some of the most Beautiful Women that God put on the face of Earth, the Inner Beauty of the Brasilian people: the amazingly Heterogeneous (diverse) Architecture of the country; the Vivaciousness of the entire country; the Economic Dynamo that Brasil has become; and last but not least, Sao Paulo, Brasil is the home of the Most Beautiful Baby Girl in the World, Maria Eduarda, my :D Grandaughter. :D

The ideal solution to my conundrum would be for me to have enough money to be able to afford two houses, cars, furniture, clothing, etcetera, one set in the United States and one set in Brasil, and to live in Pensacola, Florida from October to March, and in Jundia, SP from March to October. Maybe the lottery.

Well, my first choice would surely be Canada. Because of the cold weather which I love, the organization, nice people, and the language(s) of course(and maybe to meet someone i've been talking to since I was 16).

But I wouldn't mind living in both London or New York City. (Or wherever people speak English)

If I may be so bold as to suggest the following minor improvements

... to spend several weeks in the US... or to spend some time in the US

Hello everybody,

Well, I do like and love Brazil a lot! After all it's my home place.

But I would like to live some years in the US.

The first reason is because my sister lives there. She has opened a process of citzenship to me and it has been running on the Department of Visa of the US for 3 years or more. Maybe on the final of this year I can move and get my Green Card.

The second reason is because my area, Infomation Systems, has a great market in the US. Maybe when I go we will move to San Francisco which has the biggest market on this area.

The third reason is because I need to learn English and there is not a better place to learn than another country which its native language is English.

See you.

ps: If I made some mistakes please correct me ;)

I'd rather continue to live down here. Because I'd feel like a fish out of water. A 56-year-old fish.

Some suggested improvements:

Three years ago she started the process to obtain a Permenant Visa for me, and maybe by the end of this year I can immigrate to the U.S, with my green card. ...

The second reason is, The U.S. in general and San Francisco in particular have great markets for myeducation and area of specialization, Information Systems....

The third reason is that mastering the English language would be much easier in a place where the native tounge is English.

I hope these suggestions help you.
Wow. It seems to I have so much to improve!

Thanks Mr. Slayman!

If I have to move to another country I'd like to live in Italy or Canadá, surely I'd give preference to live in Canadá, I think Canadá is a safe place to live, everyone here who ever have been in Canadá always come back with a lot of a good news, it's simply amazing, they come back talking about the healthcare system, the people who live in there and about the accomodations that there are in Canadá. In my point of view, Brazil is Also a good place to live in, but the violence and the criminality make people feel afraid of live here, even so I'm proud of my country.

Go on Brazil!

Logan, a few very minor suggestions.

Normally there is no "accent" used in English, so it is Canada. If I ... I am sure I'd give preference to living in Canada. I think Canada is a safe place to live, everyone here who has been there always comes back with a lot of praise for the country and its healthcare system, the people, and the infrastructure. Brazil is, in my opinion, a good place to live, in spite of the violence and the crime rates that scare the people, and I am proud of my country.

GO BRAZIL!

Yeah... I'd like to live in Germany for a few years to improve my German.
Ravenna escreveu:Yeah... I'd like to live in Germany for a few years to improve my German.
Ravena,

The only word I would change would be Yeah and instead use Yes.

While yeah is now considered a proper word, just a few short decades ago, when I was in school, it was slang and its use was discouraged, so this is a very minor change indeed.

Otherwise a very nice, concise, and grammaticlly correct sentence.
Well... I've already thought about that and i concluded I wouldn't. I' d live for a while just to study, to improve, specially my oral English. And for such a long time, I'd choose US, but after all that has been happening, I changed my mind: Canada or Australia would fit me well, just to study, not to live!!! :D

I got it Bill, thanks!

I wouldn`t, because I`m strongly rooted here in Brazil, i have no reason to do that. Go abroad? For me, just for visiting.

Bill,

Thank you very much for correcting me.
It was typo!
No, I don't intend to move to another country, I prefer to live in Brazil... I don't like to live so far away from my family.

But I'd like a lot to go to other countries (for example USA) just to visit... for tour.

Gaby, I know that we aren't in a formal conversation but I suggest you to always put the letter I from the subject in a capital letter.

And as we're all here to study and improve our English skills, I'm going to show some minor errors you've done if you don't mind:

-Tradicinal. You've just forgot the "o". Traditional.
-Citys. The correct form is cities.

And I think if you had written your second sentence like below, in my opinion, would sound more better:

"At the USA we have the glamour and happy people who speaks the language that I love..."

You guys can correct me if I've said something wrong.

Sorry for my slip up!
I would like to move to NYC as almost everybody...rs I´ve been there 1 month ago and, Maaaaan, that city is so cool!!! It never stops!!! It has lights shining upon you 24 hours, that´s awesome!! But I´ve been in London 2 years ago and I could also live there, with no problems, it looks like São Paulo at hush hours, it´s nice!!
I would like to leave abroad only to improve my studies, and my englsh of course, but not forever, I like Brazil even with the problems that we, as citizens, have.
Well, I'd like to live in Canada, because of the cold weather and beautiful places I saw on Internet. I think Toronto is fantastic! I also heard thet the schools there are great, so it should be the perfect place to have fun and learn. I'd like to visit USA too, but I prefer Canada.
Hello guys.

I don't know if I would like to live in other countries forever, but I really would like to spend some time in another country to study and improve my abilities for quite a while. Which one? I guess I would enjoy Germany, England or Canada, but I want to know many countries. I have never been to another country, so It's one of the most important achievements that I hope I reach. :D

Guii.
Guii,

I would like to offer the following suggested changes. "... to study and improve my language skills for... Canada but I want to visit many countries. ... the most important goals that I hope to achieve."

Many Brasilians use to know when refering to a place whereas the proper word (v. tr.) is to visit.

Yeah! I have a desire to move with my future family from Brazil to LA or Miami. Because they say that Miami has the best weather than another place in that side of the earth, and I'd really want to prove it, and get knowing if it's even real :D
Of course! It's in my plans! I intend to move to USA, Cambridge, Massachusetts, actually, I intend to get into Harvard, but, getting admitted or not, I wanna go to USA, anywhere, and when I'm done there, I intend to live in France, with a great financial situation, just because there it's the country of lightness, of intelligence and there're the great minds in the world!
I don't know if I could live in another country, so far away from my family.... But who knows? I've never been to another country before so I can't say how is to live there. If I had to pick one I would choose England, USA or Canada.
In january I will travel to Canada for an exchange program. Let's see if it's so nice as everybody says :D
I've never been to another country too. I would like to go to Ireland, because there are so many amazing places to know, like wonderful landscapes.. I think it will be great to go to Ireland!

Would somebody like to go there too??
