"You don't remember me?" ou "Don't you remeber me?"

No filme "Taken" o ator Liam Neeson diz: You don't remeber me?
Porque que a frase é formada desta forma se é uma pergunta? Não seria mais correto dizer "Don't you remember me?"

Don't you remember me? (formal) = You don't remember me? (colloquial)

Do you have time? = You have time?

Do you want to eat something? = Want to eat something?

What you learn in class is not always what you hear in the street.

Adding to Thomas' response, I believe people would be more likely to say "You don't remember me?" after hearing something like "I'm sorry but I don't remember you".

I don't think "Don't you remember me?" would work in this particular case.

Questions aren't always questions in the sense that there is an actual demand for information. Sometimes the "questioning" intonation is there just to confirm something that seems ... likely?
