It could expressed in this way, but then it may come down to style, then the following is just a different way to say that...
So, this isn´t a correction, it´s a very usual way of saying that.


As he walked on, beads of sweat began rolling/running down from his forehead, it was too hot there...

As he walked on, beads of sweat began to appear on/to cover his forehead, it was too hot there....
