It´s not always that in conversational English it has to make sense.
I would say that the above sentence is something like "they want me gone, wait for the kicker."
So, "wait for the kicker" in this situation seems to me like something a la "me espere/me aguarde".
There is, the gist of it is that "they are kicking themselves/(he/she) is going to kick herself/himself for this one."
The whole thing could be translated into "ele querem que eu vá (embora), (eles que) me aguardem." [eles vão ver só o que eu vou fazer/o que vai acontecer, etc...]
Gone isn´t a verb there, it could mean "acabado/fora (daqui, do jogo, da equipe), morto." in the sense of "de vez" (at least in the team he/she is talking about.
It reminds of Portuguese "ir" (embora) - "o patrão não me quer aqui, ele quer que eu vá./ele não me quer na equipe/ele quer me despedir, etc etc."
