Write out também pode significar um personagem regular ser retirado pelos escritores de alguma obra como seriados, filmes e quadrinhos (seja arrumando alguma desculpa para a saída ou matando o personagem mesmo).

Ex: Human Torch to be written out of Fantastic Four comic series.

When a character is written out of a series in such a way that they can easily be returned later, if the producers so choose, they are Put On A Bus. This is the standard way for Law and Order franchises to write out characters.

There are several common ones. These are frequent uses, as verbs:

write : I like to write at least three pages every day. (escrever)
write down : I still use small notebooks to write down my to-do lists and shopping lists for the day. (assentar, listar)
write up : I will write up the accident for tomorrow's newspaper. (reportar)
write in : I wrote in to the newspaper complaining about the corruption. (informar, opinar)
write out : I asked him to immediately write out in full everything he could remember. (detalhar em escrito)
