apply for is also correct, though when talking about courses enroll may sound better. I'll give you a synonym for enroll, that's matriculate. Usually, we'd better use apply for in case people are being evaluated before getting something like a credit card or a bank account, also when it comes to job position forms apply for turns into a good combination.
Therefore both are correct. So if you choose using apply for in all this circumstances you are right, but as far as I know we can do better, can't we?
