Como eu posso dizer em inglês esta palavra em questão ?
Exemplo:
Por estarmos distantes, o meu amor está congelado ainda; não está como do seu primo, avassalador, que ama na hora e com intensidade a sua amada.
Então, esse "avassalador" se refere ao amor (sentimento) e não ao apaixonado, dando sentido de uma coisa forte, da mesma forma quando você morde uma pimenta altamente picante e sente aquela ardência na boca - alguém entendeu o meu raciocínio ?

I was filled with an overwhelming feeling of love and compassion for my fellow human beings
It gives me an overwhelming feeling of love, pride and awe for this beautiful, exquisite baby boy who has given us so much happiness and joy.
A beautiful baby girl handed to me by calm hands and received with a rush of love. I could not take my eyes off her.
And there is also "infatuation", something that sparks all of sudden, like a smack upside the head. Infatuation craves perfection and then when it fades people begin to see the imperfections of the other (and vice versa).
Then fantasy goes out and reality kicks in. Love lives with reality, including acknowledging that we are imperfect as well. Not that fantasy would be bad to the relationship, it´s overdoing it that is bad.
