Little person is the most recent term, and the least likely to cause offense. Unfortunately, as Cagey says, it's also the most ambiguous -- if I hear the sentence "He is a little person" with no context, I'm not sure if the speaker means that the "he" is unusually short for a man (say, 5'1) or if he has a form of dwarfism. In the little person community you'll often see the abbreviation LP, which is unambiguous and oftn used as a term of pride.
