A much more formal approach:

There have been occurrences of the virus in Mexico.

There is a high occurrence of grave errors in that perspective.

There is an incidence of outbreaks of the virus in Mexico. = There have been occurances of the virus causing illness...
There is a very large incidence of errors in that regard. = there are many errors, i.e., the number of errors occuring is large (not the errors themselves being described as big or huge mistakes).

One can find sentences like this one on the net: "Outbreak incidence shall be determined by Infection Control," by searching on influenza virus "outbreak incidence"

My knowledge of Portuguese is too inadequate to determine whether "incidence" is a true cognate for "incidencia" or a false cognate, but the sentences in green are and syntactically and semantically correct (are in a valid grammatical word order for a sentence, and make sense in their meaning).

I posted nearly the same sentence as you, but I like your formulation of "high occurance." One can also say "high incidence," which sounds better than "very large incidence."
