Truco is a variant of Truc and a popular trick-taking card game originary from Valencia and Balearic Islands (Spain) and played in Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Italy (in Piemonte, in Lomellina, and a particular variant in the towns Porto San Giorgio, Sirolo, Numana, Porto Recanati, Potenza Picena (Marche) and Paulilatino (Sardegna) ), Uruguay, southern Chile and Venezuela.
Na minha opinião, você pode dizer "play truco" e explicar melhor que se trata de um jogo e como ele é. Veja um trecho retirado do Jornal Americano 'The New York Times', que faz extamente isso: usa a plavra truco e explica em um contexto.
"At 36 Billares, also on the Avenida de Mayo, one waiter has worked for 47 years, serving the same people for much of that time. The people are men and, like him, come from Galicia, a region in northwestern Spain. They come to play truco in the back half of the cafe. Truco is a card game for two, four or six players, who shout and make signs. A furtive raised eyebrow, for instance, indicates an ace of spades. The truco goes on day and night, in a thick cloud of smoke. If it's not truco it's dominoes, chess or dice. There is a constant great racket of laughter, shouting, and the rolling of dice."

Hi there ! Having grown up in ' truco' culture I believe the most important is not the name for it , but knowing the rules and being able to shout out loud " Six ", "Nine" , " Twelve" in the language one is playing. Should be exciting anyway.
