Elbows up (levante o cotovelo, se defenda/se proteja ou revide...)

Elbows up - Literalmente "cotovelo pra cima", veio a se tornar "defenda-se" (como puder, se protegendo ou revidando). É o equivalente a um "reaja" (e se puder bata de volta, enfim seja 'durão'). Expressão vinda do boxe e do hóquei.

Eu tinha catalogado nas minhas anotações a expressão "up to the elbows" para um tópico futuro, mas creio que chegou a oportunidade de trazê-la, com este tópico do PPAULO.
Português: estar ou ficar envolvido/ saturado/ cheio/ coberto.
Inglês: to be up to the elbows, to be up to one's elbows.
Exemplo 1: Here’s the thing. There are some jobs where you spend your time up to the elbows in others’ trauma. Ref. remoteaccessbar

OBS.: Ainda existe a expressão to give someone the elbow, que é usada quando se quer dar o fora em alguém, livrar-se de alguém.
