Have done or had done?

Hi guys, I'd like to know which of these two sentences is the correct one and why:

"That was the most exciting thing that I have done" or

"That was the most exciting thing that I had done".

Thanks in advance!

Present Perfect:

Yesterday I went cliff diving. That was the most exciting thing I've done. (Cliff diving is the most exciting thing I've EVER done in my life).

Past Perfect:

Last year I went cliff diving. That was the most exciting thing that I had done until I jumped out of an airplane. (Cliff diving WAS the most exciting thing I had done until it was surpassed by the excitement of jumping out of an airplane).
