When you say positive, cheerful, supportive words to someone you are "speaking sun into" him/her.

In the UK, for instance, it rains a lot, and there are lots of cloudy days in a year (or it was like this). It seems like the weather has inspired the language of the "mood", sunny, overcast, to nickname babies "sunshine", etc.
Hence, "speaking sun into me" brings me the imagery of a cheer conversation, a pep talk of sorts.

Obviously, this is a skill, there are guys that use cheer up conversation and makes us feel worse...
But certainly, it's not the case in the story of this book you are reading. He might be friendly and understanding guy.
