Exemplos:
  • Don't change the subject. [Não mude de assunto.]
  • I don't want to talk about it, can we drop the subject? [Eu não quero falar sobre isto, podemos encerrar o assunto?]
  • I think we have answered your question, please drop the subject. [Eu acho que já respondemos sua pergunta, por favor encerre o assunto.]

I would suggest not using "skip" in that context. "This conversation is over" and "This has ended" are fine.

"Skip it." = Forget what I just said/asked. Stop talking about that.
"She skipped breakfast." = She did not eat breakfast.
"He skipped class." = He did not attend class.
"Let's skip the meeting and go see a movie." = Let's not go to the meeting and go see a movie instead.
