Como dizer "Pegar carona (sentido figurado)" em inglês

Donay Mendonça 23 108 1.6k
Português: aproveitar alguma coisa para ter sucesso
Inglês: ride on the back of

  1. Poetry performances are riding on the back of the popularity of stand-up comedy.
  2. Education is riding on the back of developing internet technology and communication.
  3. None of this is the fault of the authors, not really. They’re riding on the back of a big budget Hollywood movie and they have to make do with what they have been given. Lemonade from lemons and all that. There are points in the book where one imagines that the movie might not be all that bad, if the director knows what she’s doing and if the actors can keep straight faces.

Donay, another expression is "to ride/go piggyback". The expression comes from how an adult carries a child on his back/shoulders. You piggyback a shipment if you send it with a larger one for the sake of convenience or economy. You piggyback a report if you attach it to another. The list does not end.

This would make a good subject for one of your posts, and there is a lot of information available about its use.
