Dear EDUARDO RAMOS,
To work one's way to / through something is an expression with two meanings:
1st meaning: to move somewhere slowly and with difficulty.
Ex.: From here, we worked our way carefully across the rock base.
_ _ _
2nd meaning: to achieve something gradually by working.
2º significado: conquistar algo gradualmente trabalhando.
Ex.: He had worked his way up to head of department.
_ _ _
I hope it helps.
So long,
Ricardo.
