Ou, seja, Sandro, "asshole" é aquela pessoa que, aqui no BR, nós chamamos de (com o perdão da palavra) "cuzão".

Dork/jerk = 5. Slang A foolish, rude, or contemptible person.

Just one aside, "sucker" would be more on the simpleton/dupe/gull (-ible)/laughing stock/butt of many people´s jokes etc.

Because there is the "otário" (pessoa insignificante ou desprezível), said in a situation in wich the speaker is fed up with someone, or in a contemtible way, to mean (among other insults) "you are pathetic/jerk/stupid etc." ("you"= here I mean the target of the scolding/source of irritation - it could be "he/they/she" etc.

And "jerk" is usually used in insults, it´s a lighter swear word than "idiot"; wich in its turn is more informal than "fool".
