"Você vai amanhã pra minha casa? Se sim, leva alguns filmes para assistirmos." - "Você vai amanhã na minha casa? Se não, me liga avisando. Ok?"

"Are you going over to my house? If you do, bring some good movies (for us to watch). If not, phone me on it."

Not enough time to rewrite my previous post. So here goes a continuation.

Anyway, dmsdan04, your example goes to prove we'll find more than one way to skin a cat on the "Se sim-se não" controversy.

"Will you skin that cat for me? If you will, then please get the cat first. If not, let the cat go." Here the pair "if you will-if not" illustrates another possibility of stating Portuguese "Se sim-se não."

"Do you plan to go sailing this weekend? If you do, call me up. If not, come over for a drink." This one uses the "If you do-if not" pair to signify Portuguese "Se sim, se não."

This one is another thing altogether.

Já ví se sim = if so e se não = if not mas como fica:

a:Você precisa fazer isso direito se não.
b:Se não o que?

Se sim, would be “If yes, then…”
Se não, would be “If no, then…”

“Are you going to my house Tomorrow? If yes, then bring some films for us to watch.”
“Are you going to my house Tomorrow? If no, give a ring would you?

Obs: “give me a ring here” is a common slang word in English to tell others, “give a call”
