"...sleep and dream upon the matter."

Consider something overnight before deciding, as in I don't know if I want to go on such a long hike; let me sleep on it. This usage was first recorded in 1519 in the state papers of King Henry VIII: "His Grace ... said that he would sleep and dream upon the matter."

I like the suggestion "to ponder"

"To sleep on it" means to take a day to deliberate/ponder/think about it before making a decision.

INDABA is one of several words Baden-Powell brought from South Africa and intrudoced to Scouting. It is not widely known in the USA, but at least in Latin America it is a meeting of adult leaders held at regional and national levels that often includes games and some training, along with general discussions of activities, solutions for problems, etc.
