There is the topic of "double comparative" - usually with two subsets, gradual increase and paralell increase. You can call them "repeated comparatives if you wish".
Gradual increase - Structures like "more and more/better and better": He is getting better and better in English
His English is getting better and better as time go on.
This is getting more and more difficult.
Gradual decreasing:
Those are sentences with the structures "fewer and fewer/lower and lower", etc.
As pointed out, gradual decreasing and increasing can be found as double or repeated comparatives, so sentences with "longer and longer" may fall in that category as well.
Ref. thoughtco
Paralell increase being with structures like "the sooner...the better/the /The more the...the better" (quanto mais cedo melhor) and so on:
The more you read the threads on the EE forum, the better you get.
The more you practice the better and more confident you will become in your pronunciation
To sum it it, one thing is a bit proportional dependent on the other.
The more you exercise the more you lose weight.
Congrats RedSea, your memory is better than mine, Your comment helped me a lot, I was trying to figure out the question, I thought it was about some new English course or some textbook, ha ha ha. I must be getting old and rusty!

There are MORE and MORE people coming to this vacation spot"... "It seems like there is LESS and LESS time to spend with the family these days."
