For the Astro-Curious: Shakespeare's Moons

Henry Cunha 3 18 183
Did you know that all but two of Uranus' many moons are named after Shakespearian characters? Cordelia, Ophelia, Bianca, Cressida, Desdemona, Juliet, Portia, Rosalind, Cupid, Belinda, Perdita, Puck, Mab, Miranda, Ariel, Umbriel, Titania, Oberon, Francisco, Caliban, Stephano, Trinculo, Sycorax, Margaret, Prospero, Setebos, Ferdinand.
Ariel and Umbriel are named after characters in Alexander Pope's poem "The Rape of the Lock".

How this all came about is an exciting story! Real all about it at bobthealien.co

Enjoy!

I've found this website also interesting. Please take a look: Uranus, the Ice Giant.

Interesting thing! Should they choose from the Greek words Saturn would be Cronos today! Jupiter would be Zeus! Pluto would be Hades...perhaps they got shocked with this one and decided for the Roman counterparts... :-)
At the time of the naming of the first moons we had almost none writing out there but at the last two ones we could have suggested Peri (from Jose de Alencar O Guarany). But okay, at least we have an island named after a character of the book, Martin Vaz, named after a villain, perhaps because of its fauna made up of cockroaches, scorpions, and the likes. But also birds. ;-)
