I've never heard "Third Age" in the USA. However, I have heard: senior citizen (very common) and golden age.

Informally, you will also hear old timers, old farts (not for polite conversations), and others that I will remember five minutes after I post this.

I've heard the expression "senior year" a lot of times. For example: He is on his senior years!

Ok, pessoal, mas estou traduzindo um texto, e me deparei com o termo "quarta idade" para se referir a idosos com idade por volta de 80 anos.
E como poderia me referir a quarta idade??

A palavra ''elderhood'' pode ser usada para dizer ''terceira idade'' ?

E também se podemos usar o ''be of old'' para dizer ''ser (de) idade'' ?

Ex: Don't say that, he's not of old yet - Não diga isso, ele não é de idade ainda.(ele não é velho ainda)

Alessandro, you probably heard "He is in his senior years" "Senior year" usually means the last year in high school or university. "I am in my senior year at Pearblossom High School." "She dropped out of college in her senior year."

Então Thomas eu vi ''elderhood'' na internet mas já estava sem esperanças que essa palavra poderia funcionar e, ''be of old'' eu vi aqui mesmo no forum e trata-se de uma tradução direta para o Inglês, e sabemos que isso quase nunca funciona! hehe

Mas agora fiquei na duvida de como dizer: ''Dizem que a terceira idade é a melhor fase da vida, mas ainda não vivi a minha''.

Alguma sugestão pessoal?

Sugiro não utilizar "third age" e, no lugar de "the best time of one's life", a opção "the best time of life" é melhor.
