By the way, in the sense of "ampla concorrência" the word "competition" is also applied. Here's an example extracted from the Brazilian Constitution:
"Art. 146-A. Lei complementar poderá estabelecer critérios especiais de tributação,
Com o objetivo de prevenir desequilíbrios da concorrência, sem prejuízo da competência

I believe they could be applicable,but the context Thebrunelli provided made me choose "competition" and "competitors".I´ve always used these words in this context(business).

But is said that concorreram à vaga would be applied for a vacancy.
