Mechanics use "estopa" to clean their hands. Anyone knows the american english word for it?

In general I would say they may use "rags" (clothes rags, I mean).
But since you want "estopa", the word for it could be "cotton waste" or (cotton) "wiping waste" [to the rag used in garage shops] if you wish.
Cleaning rags would be a general (non-specific) way to say that.
