A stand is more of a statement than a take. You take a stand on an issue in order to let people know what you think.

Simon, um equivalente comum a "postura" como interjeição é "sit up straight" ou "stand up straight" (no caso de a pessoa estar de pé). "Don't slouch" também é relativamente comum. O substantivo que descreve a ideia física de "postura" é comumente "posture" e comum em frases como "to have good / bad posture".
