I can think of two possible ways:

1. Using the structure without the verb to be: you must need (something). Example:
You must need a hug, after such a disappointment.

2. Using the structure in need of (something), keeping the verb to be. Example:
You must be in need of a hug, after such a disappointment.

Concordando com as opções oferecidas. Mas a construção "You must be needing help / money / advice / etc." não apresenta problemas. Pode ser usada.

Sugestão:

Eu acho que você está precisando de ajuda.
I think you need help.

Acho que ele deve estar precisando de dinheiro.
I think he needs money.

Talvez ele esteja precisando de conversar.
Maybe he needs to talk.

I go for the (2) "you must be in need of money..." ("something" here is money)



But, take heed, follow my advice if your wife is making a cake and all of sudden she says "I am out of eggs...what should I do?"
She is not only saying that "acabou" but that she "está precisando", so offer to buy some more and get that extra points in relationship. Women subtleties, you know.
