O exemplo do Donay é muito bom, e serve para explicar por que "of which" neste caso: humans are a part of nature. No meu exemplo, humans belong to nature. Portanto, quando construindo sentenças com clausulas dependentes introduzidas com "by which", "of which", "with which", "to which", etc., para selecionar a preposição correta, pense em como seria a simples afirmativa sem inversão, onde é bem mais evidente qual preposição se encaixa bem.
