Sim, essa expressão serve bem quando falamos em um sentido filosófico, religioso, etc. O oposto de 'wordly goods' seria algo como -- 'heavenly goods'? (Deve have expressão melhor, sem dúvida?)
Em vários campos, usamos "real goods" (houses, cars, cameras) em distinção à bens financeiros (money, bonds, patents), por exemplo.
