Bem, eu sugeriria duas expressões:

1- One out of two: either I'll be fired or I'll get a promotion.
2- It's one of two things: either I'll be fired or I'll get a promotion.

confesso que nunca ouvi isto! O fato de eu não ter ouvido não quer dizer que não existe, ou que está errado! É simplesmente o fato de eu nunca ter ouvido um nativo dizer algo assim.

O que eu já ouvi então?

O mais comum [e o que, aparentemente, me parece e soa mais lógico] é dizer:

either [blah blah blah] or [blah, blah, blah]

Por exemplo,

'Either you stay here or go to bed'
'Either I choose that way or the other one'
'Either they help us or they shut up'

Eu sei que não parece algo muito de acordo com o que você busca. Mas línguas são assim mesmo.

Outra expressão que pode ser usada aí [embora, ao que parece, não é tão comum] é: one of both:

Well, my dear, it's one of both: either you stay here with or you go home (bom, minha querida, é uma das duas: ou você fica aqui com a gente ou vai embora)

No entanto, observe que mesmo assim o tal do 'either ... or ...' estará presente na oração.

"One of the two" is pretty common, Flávia, but almost certainly followed by "either" and not "or".

One of the two: either I'll be fired (for staying logged in EE forum all day long) or I'll get a promotion (for being improving so much my English skills).
