Como dizer "Rastro de fumaça de avião" em inglês
Na verdade, aquilo é um rastro de vapor que vemos no céu. Várias vezes já fiquei tentando lembrar por que isso se chama de contrail em inglês. Depois me lembro: É uma forma abreviada de dizer "condensation trail."
Mas que também não está certo:
Condensation is the process of turning a gas into a liquid. Evaporation is the opposite process. A contrail is really a vapour trail, which doesn't lend itself to an abridged form.
So you can see why I always get stuck trying to remember where the word comes from. But then it's probably just my memory going up in smoke.
And contrails in the sky -- or their absence on 9/11 when all flights over the US were grounded -- has an effect on weather. The effect was reported in http://www.csmonitor.com/Environment/Br ... mperatures.
