Totally x altogether - Qual a diferença?

I think It's not necessary to put phrasal examples here to clarify my question, since It's a very simple question, however If It is I can show some examples.

a. Totally: completamente, totalmente, plenamente
That's a totally different matter. [Essa é uma questão totalmente diferente.]
I totally agree. [Eu concordo plenamente.]
b. Altogether: completamente(totally), ao todo, em resumo
In Canada, the situation is altogether different. [No Canadá a situação é totalmente diferente.]
There were five people altogether. [Havia cinco pessoas ao todo.]
Lots of sunshine, wonderful food, and amazing nightlife - altogether a great vacation. [Muito sol, comida maravilhosa e uma vida noturna excelente - em resumo: ótimas férias.]
