Hi everyone! I would like to introduce you to The Everyday Life Project (GFCLearnFree). There are modules to show you how to do everyday tasks in English. You can see how to prepare a cake from scratch.
1. Measure
2. Mix
3. Bake
The ATM module shows how you can withdraw money from an ATM machine. The site also offers free training for MS Word, Powerpoint and other software programs.
I hope you have fun trying out the modules.

It is a common error to pronounce discover with a long o sound. The word ‘over’ does have a long o sound like in the word ‘oh’ . But the first vowel in the word ‘discover’ has a soft sound like the ‘u’ in the words ‘love’ an ‘of’.
You can listen to the pronunciation at www.m-w.com.
Similarly another, cover, other, brother, hover all have the short vowel sound heard in ‘up’ .
Clover and Rover have a long o sound like in the word ‘over’.
I hope you like it!

See you!
Dear readers, a member asked how to say “Derramei café na minha camisa,” in English. If you just now spilled coffee on your shirt, then you would say I spilled coffee on my shirt(because it is happening at one point in time, not over an extended period of time).
“HAVE SPILLED” IS CORRECT IN SENTENCES THAT DO NOT IMPLY A SPECIFIC TIME.
I have spilled coffee on my shirt many times.
I have spilled coffee on my shirt before.
I hope you like it!

Hello everyone, Earth Day is on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008. To celebrate the day, we will be working collaboratively with people around the world to produce and air a live webcast which will last for the entire 24 hours of the GMT day! This is a HUGE challenge and we’re hopeful that you’ll participate!
This is the Earth Day 2008 information.
There is a learners’ voice thread, the second voice thread box on the page. We cordially invite you to write or record a message on the voice thread. Click here.

What kind of Earth will your grandchildren’s grandchildren grow up in? The idea is that our Legacy is based on our actions now and how we are treating Mother Earth.
There is a wiki for a global Earth Day project, here. And the voice thread for educators, here.
Thank you in advance for your participation.
