Como dizer "Canhar" em inglês

Em Minas Gerais nunca ouvi a palavra "canhar", precisamos de mais contexto ou pelo menos palavras substitutas.

Na verdade acho que ele quer algo como: "se é pra ficar negando/regulando/racionando/reclamando, é melhor não dar."
Algo quase como que "chorando miséria", mas não chega a tanto, pois ele poderia querer dizer (sugerir) que ela queria ficar com todos, dar apenas "umzinho" ou coisa assim. Mais no sentido de "se é pra ser tão pouco nem dê" ou "se não quer dar nem me ofereça".

Ainda estou às voltas para definir algo parecido em inglês! E sim, admito que "canhar" é uma novidade pra mim também.

But if ate 90% of the chocolates, then perhaps it would sound a bit odd to say that, ha ha! Unless it is said in jest.

Perhaps something like following, with the (gift) shoes situation:

I appreciate your gift, but I don´t appreciate a giver that attempts to dictate how (or where) to use it.

I appreciate your gift, but I don´t appreciate anyone lecturing/telling me about how to use it.

But I wonder if there is some shorter version, and one that might be tactful. The ones above may give the impression (or may not) that you imply that you have been given a "trojan horse" gift!
Anyway, sometimes they are options.

I appreciate anyone´s generosity provided that it doesn´t come with anyone lecturing/telling me about how to use the gift/the shoes, etc.
Would a softer version, let´s wait for more answers.

One other expression could be: if you give me something you let me use it as I see fit!

Perdão. Tal expressão não é comum na região onde moro em SP e talvez não seja sequer comum de SP. Existe alguma expressão com o mesmo significado que essa ?

O PPaulo está certo. Significa controlar/regular (mais com comidas).

Então a pergunta seria:

"Se for pra ficar controlando/regulando nem dê".

Poderia acontecer com varias coisas.

Por exemplo imaginem que um amigo te da um par de sapatos novos de presente e você imediatamente coloca os sapatos e diz que está indo pra fazenda. Ai teu amigo fala:

Amigo: "Não vai usar os sapatos na fazenda né?"

Você: "Se for pra controlar/regular nem dê".
