Como dizer ''Tinha que ser..." em inglês

A expressão "tinha que ser" quando significa que aquela ação ou estado é característico daquela pessoa, especialmente em contextos depreciativos, também pode ser usada em inglês?
Exemplos:
" -Maria quebrou a torneira de novo." "-Tinha que ser aquela desastrada!". (It had to be that clumsy!).
"- O aluno xingou o professor nas redes sociais." "-Tinha que ser um calouro." (It had to be a freshman.)
Se não é comum "it had to be" nesse contexto, há alguma expressão equivalente?

There are some expressions with a meaning close to that in sense:
"it´s so freshman!" (along with the event that makes he/she so freshman).
It´s not such surprise, she is that clumsy!
I am not surprised that she did that, she is that clumsy!
