Como dizer "Eu encostei a..." em inglês

Boa tarde,

'Encostar' seria 'touch'.
Portanto, o inglês ficaria "I touched the screwdriver in the wrong pin"

I accidentally touched the wrong pin with the screwdriver.
I accidentally touched other pin (or pins) with the screwdriver.

You could put blame on it, the screwdriver too:
The screwdriver came to life on its own and connected to the wrong pin (of the IC, motherboard, etc).

That wouldn't be the first time that a screwdriver has screwed up big time!

In the case Simon has suggested, an instance has sprung to my mind.
The imagery of a teacher with a screwdriver pointing to a drawing of an integrated circuit in the blackboard.

In real life, a technician wouldn't mention that if there wasn't a (bad) consequence, a spark, to short-circuit it, etc.

Granted, there are screwdriver voltage tests, but then not usual to test pins, except in case of some equipments that have CA powered socket pins inside.
Anyway, the ball is in the court of eletricians/technicians and the likes now!
