Is there a word other than autonomous to say that you're an independent worker?
Is it correct to say I am an autonomous?

I am an autonomous worker (freelancer, independent contractor, sole proprietor, micro-entrepreneur, etc).
By saying that you are autonomous may beg the question in what area? An autonomous individual can be perceived as one that have freedom to deal with their (her/his) own affairs in life. See?
Of couse, I know we know you are talking about employment and work terms because of the heading 'trabalhador autônomo", but in a conversation saying "I am an autonomous" would make more sense in Portuguese (almost a fixed expression).
