NOTES:

(1) Coda or outro is a section of song that takes us out of the song's emotional landscape or it can be as simple as a bit of verse or chorus repeated several times. The coda can be an entirely new section of music.

(2) Heal the World is a song written and composed by Michael Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009) and produced by Bruce Swedien (April 19, 1934 – November 16, 2020). It was released on November 23, 1992 as the fifth single from the album, Dangerous. The song is steeped with antiwar lyrics and Jackson's wish for humanity of making the world a better place for the next generations. It reached number two in the UK Singles Chart in December 1992 and kept off the number one position by Whitney Houston's I will always love you. It peaked the 27th position on the Billboard Hot 100.

Some of Jackson's songs such as Can You Feel It, We Are the World and Man in the Mirror convey his great interest in humanitariasm, equality and world peace. He and his colleagues started the Dangerous World Tour on June 27,1992 and finished it on November 11, 1993. They managed to perform 3.5 million people in 69 concerts and all the profits went to Heal the World foundation, which was founded in 1992. The purpose of the charity was to provide medicine to children and fight world hunger, homelessness, child exploitation and abuse. Through the foundation, Jackson airlifted 46 tons of supplies to Sarajevo and paid for a Hungarian child's liver transplant. In 2002, the Heal the World Foundation was suspended, after failing to file yearly accounting statements, required for tax-exempt organizations. Records showed that the foundation had net assets of $3,542 and reported $2,585 in expenses.

(3) The second clip was created with imagery from current times as a global message of encouragement and comfort to all during this difficult period, which has gotten especially worse because of COVID-19 pandemic. The clip was shown on Michael Jackson official profile on YouTube on April 3rd, 2020.

(4) The idioms to beat swords into plowshares or to turn swords into plowshares is very old and comes from the concept in which military weapons or technologies must be converted for peaceful civilian applications. Ploughshares is a British word, which comes from the Hebrew אֵת‎ (coulter). These idioms are often mentioned in social or political discussions, when the issue is reallocating funds from the war department to social concerns.

(5) The song A Paz was directly adapted from Jackson's Heal the World and it was composed and performed by Roupa Nova, a Brazilian soft rock band, who has been collecting many hits since the 80's such as Sapato Velho, Anjo, Whisky-a-Go-Go, Linda Demais, Volta pra Mim and so on. In 2007, Roupa Nova was invited to Roberto Carlos Especial, a TV program shown by Rede Globo where they performed some of these songs, including A Paz with the participation of Canarinhos de Petrópolis Choir, the oldest boy choir in Brazil. The choir was established on August 15, 1942.

A Paz is considered a hit and it is often related to New Year events and parties. Many other singers such as Gilberto Gil and Daniel had also performed this song in their shows. Roupa Nova band was formed in 1970 by Cleberson Horsth (keyboard), Luis Fernando Oliveira da Silva a.k.a. Nando (bass), Eurico Pereira da Silva Filho a.k.a. Kiko (guitars and vocals) and Paulo César Santos a.k.a. Paulinho (vocals). In 1975, they were joined by Ricardo Feghali (keyboards and guitars) and Serginho Herval (drums and vocals).

Their album Roupa Nova em Londres was recorded at Abbey Road Studios, London, England. The album was released in 2009 and won the Latin Grammy in the category Best Brazilian Contemporary Pop Album. Paulinho, the lead singer of the band, sadly died of coronavirus on December 14, 2020.

Thanks for sharing, Ricardo. That's a wealth of information. I listened to M.J. A lot, (Billie Jean, for instance) on cassette tapes. :-) Roupa Nova as well.
